November marks National Adoption Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about adoption. This month, Iowans for Adoption also highlights the importance of ensuring all children have safe, loving, nurturing, permanent, stable families. We encourage everyone to learn more about adoption and share this information with others.

Why National Adoption Month and the Safe Haven Act Matter
In the United State, more than 100,000 children are waiting to be adopted from the nation's foster care system. National Adoption Month shines a light on these children’s needs. The Safe Haven Act offers an option for parents who may not want to or be able to parent. Many people do not realize that a baby can be placed with an adoption agency if the parent(s) decide that parenting is not the right option for them or their child. Utilizing the Safe Haven Act can keep kids out of the foster care system.
Raising awareness helps reduce stigma around the Safe Haven Act.

We invite everyone to get involved to help promote our goals:
Celebrate children, families, and the adoption triad.
Raise awareness about adoption and foster care, grounded in accurate information.
Help every child reach a safe, permanent, loving, nurturing, stable family.
Educate Iowans about adoption, Iowa's Safe Haven Act, and adopting from foster care.
