Iowans for Adoption proudly hosts two adoption events every year. This includes the IFA annual Gala and the Gingerbread Run/Walk for Adoption. These events are always a highlight to our organization because we are helping Iowans become educated about adoption/foster care, awarding companies that provide adoption benefits to families and providing opportunities for adoptive families and birth parents to celebrate adoption in Iowa. See the events below for more details! If you would like to volunteer for either of these events, please send us an email at info@iowansforadoption.org. Thank you for your help!
Virtual Gingerbread Run & MOVE FOR ADOPTION

The Gingerbread Run/Walk for Adoption is a staple of Iowans for Adoption. The Run is a great way for Iowans to celebrate youth and families who have been impacted by adoption. Due to COVID-19, we have pivoted to make this a completely virtual event this year. The safety of our community is our number one priority, but that should not stop us from celebrating adoption. Starting April 1st-30th, join us in moving for ADOPTION anywhere in the world! Register at runsignup.com/ifa or read more below on the event.

April 1-April 30, 2021

April is the perfect time to celebrate all facets of adoption! April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Month of the Young Child. Our event will be the entire month of April to honor these nationally-recognized months and to kick off National Foster Care Month in May.  In the United States, more than 100,000 youth are waiting to be adopted from foster care. Please join us and Wendy’s Wonderful Kids to prevent child abuse, celebrate youth and promote adoption from foster care!

Anywhere around the world. Participate wherever and whenever you want!

Iowans For Adoption is holding its annual Gingerbread Run (5K) AND Move For Adoption (any activity, any distance, any time) virtually this year due to COVID-19. Please celebrate adoption by participating in a virtual event any time during the entire month of April (April 1-April 30, 2021). There will NOT be a specific place or time for this event because it is completely virtual.  Invite your friends, family, workout partners, etc. to run a 5K or Move For Adoption whenever, however, and wherever you want.

  • MOVE FOR ADOPTION ($20/person; $65/family of 4): Individuals and families who register to Move For Adoption can participate ANY WAY they would like to MOVE (ride, run, walk, roll, row, yoga, dance, swim, etc.). No specific distances, activities, or times are required. The top three fundraisers will receive an award and prizes.

  • 5K RUN For Awards ($35): Participants who register as a timed runner (5K) will submit their results to the results page (on this website) for a chance to win awards and prizes in nine different age categories, in which you will automatically be placed when registering.

Each participant has the ability to create their own personal fundraising link. Click on "Become a Fundraiser" on the top menu bar of our registration page to create your own link to post. This will allow you to post your fundraising link to various social media sources to continue to fundraise for Iowans For Adoption. The top three fundraisers will receive awards and prizes, so set up your fundraising page now!

IFA Gala

Due to COVID-19, IFA unfortunately made the decision to postpone its fourth annual Gala. We value the health and safety of all our volunteers and supporters. In the mean time, we are working diligently to follow our IFA mission and keeping education a top priority. We have been using social media, digital tools and billboard messaging as an additional way to educate Iowans about adoption and foster care. We will be sure to keep in touch on a date for the 2021 Gala. Thank you for your continued support.
