Jerry Foxhoven, J.D., has dedicated decades of his life to public service, law, and advocacy for children and families. As he steps down from his role as board president of Iowans for Adoption, it is fitting to reflect on his remarkable contributions and the lasting impact he leaves behind. Jerry's leadership has shaped our organization and the lives of countless Iowans--he personally completed the adoption finalization legal work for hundreds of children and families in Iowa.

Jerry’s career as an attorney and public servant provided a strong foundation for his work with Iowans for Adoption. His understanding of legal issues, the foster care system, and laws surrounding all facets of adoption helped Iowans for Adoption advocate for initiatives that provided more protection for children’s best interests.

Jerry’s leadership helped Iowans for Adoption remain a trusted source of information and support. People nationwide confidently turn to the organization for guidance, reassurance, programming, education, and advocacy.

We are so grateful that Jerry served as our board president! Jerry's legacy reminds us that behind every adoption story is a commitment to children’s and families' well-being and the power of community to make a difference! We invite everyone to get involved to help promote our goals:

Celebrate children, families, and all members of the adoption triad.
Raise awareness about adoption and foster care, grounded in accurate information.
Help every child reach a safe, permanent, loving, nurturing, stable family.
Educate Iowans about adoption, the Safe Haven Act, and adopting from foster care.
